Stowaway
SOAP Gallery
February, 2009

The concept of that which is hidden but remains as a ‘passenger’ either physically or psychologically is central to the work in Stowaway. Through drawing, sculpture, and installation, the work in Stowaway expands on the concept of the fugitive traveler while focusing on specific icons and symbols of contemporary American life, which are then woven with images that represent the popular idea of the American West. Through this exhibition, I wondered how pop cultural narratives, transient objects, oe desired expectations can act as hidden passengers that stay with you.
